Information About the Travel Assistance Benefit
When traveling outside your country of residence for business or leisure, eligible medical insurance policies administered by MWG International include access to a Travel Assistance Benefit (TAB), giving you added support and peace of mind while away from home.
The Travel Assistance Benefit is funded by MWG International and delivered through a partnership with Universal Assistance, a global provider of travel support services. It is designed to help address unexpected situations that may arise during travel, including medical emergencies, travel disruptions, or loss of important documents. The coverage applies to an unlimited number of international trips per year, up to 30 days each. A summary of available benefits appears below. Eligibility, benefits, and limits may vary and are subject to change.
Using Your Travel Assistance Benefit
To help ensure timely assistance while traveling, we recommend registering with Universal Assistance prior to departure. Registration is easiest through the Universal Assistance mobile app, where you can enter your policy details (typically required only once).
If you are traveling specifically to receive medical treatment, all care must continue to be precertified through MWG International, consistent with the requirements of your medical policy.
Registering with Universal Assistance
There are two ways to view your coverage: the My Coverage website and the UA app. The website allows you to view a summary of the coverage available to you, but you will still need to use the UA app to use the benefits.
My Coverage Website (view only)
To view your coverage, you will need to enter the following information:
- In the “Document Type” box, choose “Other”
- In the “Document No” box, type your MWG policy number followed by your date of birth in MMDDYY format. Your policy number may contain a mix of letters and numbers. The policy number and the DOB should be combined into one string of characters, with no spaces, hyphens, or slashes. Important: The date of birth must be formatted specifically with 2 digits each for month, day, and year (in that order).
UA App (first time setup)
Activating your account on the UA app is the only way to fully access your benefits.
